Debtor's Education
After your case is filed, you are required to complete a debt management program. The United States Bankruptcy Court requires certification of completion for a debtor's education course within 45 days after your Meeting of Creditors. You will work with a certified counselor to make a post-bankruptcy budget, develop financial goals and learn tools to build your credit and maintain your financial freedom. After you complete the course, you will receive a debtor's education certificate and sign a debtor's education affidavit to receive your bankruptcy discharge.

Credit Counseling
Certification of credit counseling is required by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to file a case. A credit counseling course consists of questions about your income, debt, and expenses. You work with a certified credit counselor to thoroughly evaluate your current financial situation. After you complete the course, you will receive a credit counseling certificate to send to your attorney.
